JOB DESCRIPTION: DRIVER / PATIENT CARE ATTENDANT

PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTING AMBULATORY AND NON-AMBULATORY PERSONS (IN WHEELCHAIRS AND ON STRETCHERS) VIA COMPANY VEHICLE.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE: (All certifications and training are completed post-hire)

-Current valid Florida drivers license (class D)

-Current AHA or ARC CPR training or must successfully complete,

within 30 days of employment

-Current First Aid training or must successfully complete

within 30 days of employment

-Must pass company sponsored DOT physical exam (post offer-pre employment)

-Must possess physical agility necessary to lift and move patients safely

-Must successfully complete T.E.A.M. (Baker Act Training) program

-Must be neat and clean at all times

-Must possess good verbal communication skills

-Must pass company driving test and successfully complete NSC Defensive Driver program

-Must have temperament to deal professionally with other health care personnel

-Must have temperament to deal professionally with disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

-Daily vehicle inspection and equipment checklist

-Cleaning of vehicles (inside and outside)

-Familiarization of geographical area and use of maps

-Safely moving patients from beds and/or chairs into and out of wheelchairs and stretchers

-Transporting patients to various locations via company vehicle

-Utilization of radio communication equipment

-Collecting payments and issuing receipts

JOB DESCRIPTION: DIAL-A-RIDE DRIVER 

Primarily responsible for safe and efficient operation of County owned public transportation passenger vehicles. Work involves the operation of a specialty vehicle in the transport of the public along a fixed or flexible schedule as circumstances dictate. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of a dispatcher and/or supervisor with responsibilities which may include the collection of passenger fares, tickets and tokens, the receipt and disposition of citizen inquiries with respect to transportation services and the performance of a mechanical check prior to vehicle operation. Work involves assisting passengers as they step on and off the vehicle and also includes assisting wheelchair bound clients by utilizing hydraulic lifts and hold down straps in each vehicle. Work involves considerable contact with the public and requires the exercise of tact, judgment and diplomacy. Work is reviewed through observation, conferences, and the evaluation of results achieved.

Essential Requirements Include :

Current valid Florida CDL class C with public passenger endorsement.  (CDL class C can be obtained post hire)

Current AHA or ARC CPR training or must complete within 30 days of employment.

Current First Aid training or must complete within 30 days of employment.

Must pass company sponsored DOT physical exam and drug testing.

Must complete company sponsored Defensive Driving training .

Must complete passenger sensitivity training.

Must posses physical agility necessary to assist ambulatory, wheelchair bound, and other clients with disabilities to safely board and exit transit vehicles.

Must be neat and clean at all times.

Must posses good verbal communication skills.

Considerable knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, rules, driving courtesies and good knowledge of Charlotte County streets and roads.

Essential Duties Include :

Daily vehicle inspection and equipment checklist.

Utilization of two-way radio communication equipment.

Assists passengers on and off the vehicle.

Collection of fares, tickets and tokens.

Completion of daily records and manifests which may include mileages, passengers, and fares collected.

Driving in a safe and responsible manner at all times.

Incidental requirements and duties may be assigned as necessary by supervisory personnel.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

-Current valid Florida drivers license (class D with E endorsement)

-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (16 hr. minimum)

-Current valid State of Florida EMT certification

-Current valid CPR certification. Either AHA BLS Course C or ARC BLS for the Professional Rescuer

-Must pass company sponsored physical exam (post offer - pre employment)

-Must possess physical agility necessary to lift and move patients safely

-Must be neat and clean at all times

-Must possess good written and verbal communication skills

-Must pass company driving test

-Must have temperament to deal professionally with other health care personnel

-Must have temperament to deal professionally with disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons

-Verbal and hard copy patient care reports

-Daily vehicle inspection and equipment/supply checklist

-Cleaning and basic maintenance of vehicles (inside and outside)

-Safely lifting and moving patients onto and off of the stretcher and in and out of the ambulance

-Familiarization of geographical area and use of maps

-Utilization of radio communication equipment

-Knowledge of and adherence to BLS protocols

-Standby and on-call

-Adherence to standard operating procedures

INCIDENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED AS NECESSARY BY SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL

-Current valid State of Florida Paramedic certification

-Current valid AHA ACLS certification and AHA or ARC professional CPR

-Must pass company sponsored physical exam (post offer - pre employment)

-Must possess physical agility necessary to lift and move patients safely

-Must be neat and clean at all times

-Must possess good written and verbal communication skills

-Must pass company driving test

-Must have temperament to deal professionally with other health care personnel

-Must have temperament to deal professionally with disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons
