Basic Life Support Services

Basic Life Support Services

A “basic life support” ambulance should be used to maintain continuity of patient care when transferring from a hospital to a nursing home. These vehicles are staffed with licensed professionals through the Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA).

The staff are trained to monitor the patient’s condition while being transported to their destination. This includes the checking of pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, level of consciousness, administration of oxygen (when the patient is unable to supply their own portable oxygen).

Our basic life support services include the following:

  • Non-emergency / inter-facility ambulance service
  • Hospital discharges
  • Inter-hospital transfers
  • Air Ambulance transfers
  • Psychiatric patient transport
  • Long-term dialysis patient transports (patient evaluations and physician approval required)
  • Long distance transports
